I was born a poor black child....???......??? No no no, let's try that again. I have been drawing since I was a
kid growing up in Atlanta, Georgia. Well, It wasn't really drawing as much as it was doodling, but it was something I did all the time. I moved here to Columbus, Ohio when I was about 12 or 13 years old and went to Whitehall, graduated in 1988, then went to Denison U. for pre. med., believe it or not; all the time, still doodling. Needless to say, all those years of fucking off and drawing, I ended up with quite the passion for art.
I started tattooing about 12 years ago, and just like about 50% of most artists, it was all by accident.
I got my first intro into tattooing with Tim Miller when I was 17 years old. It was, not so oddly enough, one of my doodles that I fixed up to be a first tat. Well, that was it. I wanted more and more, and kept coming up with any reason to do more. Tim and I had become good friends and about my fourth time sitting in the tattoo chair, Tim asked me if I had ever thought of giving the tattoo machine a whirl. So I said hell yeah. I messed around there a bit and then landed at Sacred Art with another good friend, Mike Grogan. Well, that was short lived, so I went out on my own and here I am, owning my own and doin' it my way.
So, I guess this is where I tell you what "my way" is. As far as tattooing goes, as long as I am pushing ink I'm happy. There aren't too many styles I don't like to do, but I will say that I would much rather do custom work than flash art. As far as my art work and painting goes, I prefer to work with charcoal blacks and greys sometimes small hint of color.
